Employees of the metropolitan State Automobile Inspection found a video online, in which a monowheel driver is riding on a cycle path on Nezalezhnosti Avenue at a speed significantly higher than the allowed 25 km/h.
The video was filmed by a motorist who was driving along the avenue. The car was moving at its permitted speed of 60 km/h, and the person on the monowheel was riding approximately at the same level as the car. Thus, the speed of the monowheel could reach about 60 km/h.
With the help of the republican public safety monitoring system, inspectors promptly identified the offender. He was a 33-year-old man.
For the violation, the monowheel driver was brought to justice as provided by law.
The State Automobile Inspection reminded that drivers of personal mobility devices in populated areas are prohibited from exceeding a speed of 10 km/h, and when moving on a cycle path — more than 25 km/h.
According to new rules, if a personal mobility device can develop a speed of more than 25 km/h, it must undergo technical certification. After verification, such a device may already be assigned to another category of transport — for example, a moped or a motorcycle. To operate them, a corresponding driver's license is required. If it is not available, a fine is provided.
