"It hasn't happened and won't happen." Lukashenka spoke about large-scale privatization in Belarus
In Belarus, there will be neither shock therapy nor large-scale privatization of state property. Alexander Lukashenka stated this during his trip to the Abuz-Lyasnouski training ground in the Baranavichy district, reports BelTA.

"I am not against private property. I am just careful with privatization," Lukashenka stated.
He cited as an example the recent discussion of the terms for transferring to management and subsequent buyout by the private company "Servolyuks" of farms in the Dubrovna district of the Vitsebsk region. According to Lukashenka, the company was ready to acquire these farms for just one base unit. He stated that he does not consider such a condition fair, because even troubled farms have livestock, premises, tractors, harvesters, and other equipment.
Lukashenka believes that when buying out, the real assets of the farms and their debts should be taken into account, not a symbolic price.
According to him, private investors are primarily offered farms that operate inefficiently. In general, there are supposedly not many of them across the country, but there are plenty in the Vitsebsk region. Lukashenka stated that the region has already been helped with equipment, thanks to which rapeseed was sown on time, and about a million tons of grain were harvested. However, according to him, these are only the first steps.
Speaking about attracting private investors and transferring individual state assets to them, Lukashenka emphasized that the policy in this direction will continue. At the same time, Belarus does not intend to conduct sharp and large-scale privatization.
"It hasn't happened and won't happen," he stated.
Lukashenka also said that the decision on the privatization of state assets in Belarus is essentially made only with his consent. He noted the difficulty in determining a fair price for state-owned enterprises.
Touching upon issues of regional development, Lukashenka also drew attention to the demographic problem and the shortage of labor. If there are not enough workers within the country, they have to be invited from abroad. As an example, he named citizens of Uzbekistan working in Belarus.
According to Lukashenka, the attraction of Uzbek workers is a controlled process. He stated that he personally monitors how they work and receives positive feedback.
