20-year-old killer of Ukrainian MP Iryna Farion sentenced to life imprisonment
"While others rally and peacefully go home, I silently sharpened my knife to do what millions dreamed of," Vyacheslav wrote in his diary.

Today, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv sentenced Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who was accused of murdering linguist Iryna Farion. The court sentenced the 20-year-old Zinchenko to life imprisonment, reports RBC-Ukraine.
Zinchenko was accused of intentional murder motivated by national intolerance and illegal handling of weapons. He did not admit his guilt.
During the announcement of the verdict, a rally for Zinchenko's life imprisonment was held near the court building. People gathered even before the start of the session and chanted: "Zinchenko - life imprisonment", "Glory to Farion", "Life imprisonment - for the killer".
As the judge stated, Zinchenko's guilt was proven in full.
His personal notes, which, according to the investigation, outlined the crime plan and subsequent escape, were also read out at the session.
"While others rally and peacefully go home, I silently sharpened my knife to do what millions dreamed of. I consider myself a sanitary worker of society, although I acted out of personal antipathy. I made my choice and will go all the way, otherwise I will lose self-respect," Zinchenko noted in his diary.
Iryna Farion, a former MP of the Verkhovna Rada from the "Svoboda" party, known for her statements, was killed on July 19, 2024. During the assassination attempt, she received a severe wound, after which she was taken to the hospital, where she died three hours later.
A few days later, a suspect in the murder, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who was then 18 years old, was detained in Dnipro.
