Latvia banned the import of Belarusian books, clothing, and toys from all sources starting September 1
Starting September 1, Latvia introduced a ban on the import of several industrial goods from Belarus and Russia. Among them are printed books and newspapers, clothing, footwear, toys, games, and sports goods. This was reported by Delfi.
The exact start date of the ban was determined by the Latvian government. The relevant rules were adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, September 1.
The ban applies not only to goods imported directly from Belarus and Russia. It also extends to products of Belarusian and Russian origin that enter Latvia through other countries.
The list includes printed books, newspapers and other printed matter, clothing and other finished textile products, footwear, headwear, as well as toys, games and sports equipment.
As Delfi writes, the purpose of the ban is to protect Latvia's security interests, reduce the ability of Belarus and Russia to generate export revenues, and limit the entry of Russian propaganda materials into the country.

Такие меры часто называют «санкциями против народа», потому что они бьют по тем, кто не поддерживает режим, а иногда даже выступает против него.
Санкции должны быть направлены против режима, а не против обычных граждан, которые часто сами являются жертвами политики Лукашенко.
