The Money Museum of the National Bank of Belarus published on Facebook an unapproved draft design for a 1992 50-ruble banknote featuring the image of Maksim Bahdanovich.
Commentators did not rate the artistic level of this sketch very highly, especially noting the unrecognizability of the poet himself. Indeed, without a caption under the image, it would have been difficult to guess that it was Maksim Bahdanovich.
At the same time, the idea of national currency featuring images of national poets was positively received.
"Artistically, it doesn't look great. But as an idea for implementation on Belarusian money — the figure of Maksim Bahdanovich is worthy," wrote one commentator.
"Maksim Bahdanovich doesn't quite look like himself here, but otherwise it's a very interesting project," another supported.
