Belarus has developed its own analog of a drug for treating HIV infection — "Dolutegravir-AM". The drug has already passed the necessary studies, and the first batches are planned to be released by the end of 2026, writes "Minskaya Prauda".
As reported by Alena Siarkova, director of the pharmaceutical company "AmantysMed", the studies were conducted on healthy volunteers in certified clinical centers according to a protocol approved by the Ministry of Health.
Tests showed that the Belarusian generic does not differ from the original drug in terms of absorption rate and extent within the established norms. Thus, it was recognized as corresponding to the original in key pharmacokinetic parameters.
The developers note that the domestic drug will be cheaper than its foreign analog, but should not be inferior in effectiveness.
The first batches of "Dolutegravir-AM" are planned to be produced this year at the "AmantysMed" plant in Lahoysk.
According to company representatives, the launch of their own drug production should become an important step in ensuring drug security in Belarus and replacing imported medicines in a strategically important area.
