Nobleman's Estate with Observatory Tower Near Stolin Sold for Second Time This Year
The Aleshaŭ estate with a home observatory in Stolin district has finally found a new owner on the "BUTB-Property" platform. The previous seemingly successful attempt to sell the noble nest fell through due to the previous buyer's last-minute refusal, however, the repeated auction concluded successfully, writes Domovita.by.
The bidding for the ancient complex in the village of Nova-Berazhnoe, Stolin district, on the BUTB-Property platform was very active — two participants vied for the purchase, making 33 bids in 2.5 hours. As a result, the initial price increased 4.3 times: from 12,892 rubles to the winning 54,792 rubles (approximately $18,110). A private construction company from Pinsk became the new owner of the estate.
Interestingly, in spring, this very lot was much more actively contested. At that time, the price soared to almost 128,200 rubles, but the winner of the auction from the agro-town of Alshany in the same Stolin district suddenly changed his mind about acquiring the estate just before signing the papers. This time, there was no drama, and the property finally transferred to a specialized business.
Along with the main building and an old icehouse, the investor will receive the right to lease a land plot of about 37 ares for a period of 50 years.
By the way, despite its rich historical past, the building does not have an official status as a material historical and cultural value. The estate itself was built in 1890 and has a total area of about 426 square meters. The house was built from good red brick, and local legends claim that each brick was brought to the construction site wrapped in paper. The building is designed in the Neo-Gothic style with restrained decor, segmental arch windows, and a terrace. It turned out stylish, reliable, and without excessive intricacy.
The coolest feature of the estate is hidden on the park side — it's a faceted two-story tower. The last owner of the estate, Konstantin Alesha, was a progressive man who studied in Germany and was very fond of astronomy. In this very tower, he set up a real home observatory to observe the stars through a telescope. By the way, the famous Soviet writer Yuri Alesha comes from this same noble family.
Adjoining the estate is a picturesque English park covering 5 hectares, laid out by German gardener Karl Beisert. Rare tree species have been preserved on this territory, including black pine and Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi). The area has become a bit wild, but still looks incredibly atmospheric.
During Soviet times, the noble halls were used as ordinary apartments for the workers of the local distillery. Over the years, the residents moved out, the house was mothballed, and it began to slowly deteriorate. Given the tourist potential of Polesie, a stylish country hotel, an atmospheric restaurant, or a cozy recreation base could emerge here.
