Prince Harry and his wife Meghan decided to change schools for their children in the UK just a few days after they started classes. The reason was security concerns related to traffic during school commutes, writes the BBC.
In August, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (their current official titles) announced they were returning to the UK from the USA, where they had lived for the past few years. As reported, this decision was largely due to the couple's desire to give their children a British education.
However, the school they had initially chosen for seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet had to be changed almost immediately.
It became known that Harry and Meghan's private security was concerned that the distance and intense traffic on the initial school route made it difficult to ensure safety.
According to reports from the British press, the children had to be driven to school in several cars. And during rush hour, when many British parents drive their children to or from school, moving in a convoy is not the most convenient solution.
It is believed that the route to the school was checked before the start of the academic term, but with school traffic taken into account, it was deemed insufficiently safe.
A source close to the couple said: "The decision to transfer the children to another school was made after discussions of the practical aspects of the existing security measures with the team responsible for the family's security."
She added: "The parents are very grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care, and efforts they have shown towards their family. This decision should in no way be interpreted as a criticism of the school or of the exceptional attention and care with which the children were surrounded there."
