The name of the second Belarusian woman who died in a mudslide in Nepal has become known. This is 24-year-old Iryna from BSU's Faculty of Journalism
Iryna Badzilouskaya from Svietlahorsk lived in Northern Cyprus and frequently traveled across East Asia.
In Nepal, after a catastrophic flood in the Bhote Koshi river area, 24-year-old Belarusian citizen Iryna Badzilouskaya went missing. Her name is on the official lists of missing tourists, published by the Department of Tourism of Nepal.
The flood, caused by a glacial melt and a water breach from Tibet, hit the Rasuwa region in late August and led to the death of thousands of people. Among the foreign citizens with whom contact is still missing, two Belarusians are listed. According to Nepali officials, the girl traveled the route independently, without using agency services.
Iryna Badzilouskaya was born on October 2, 2001. She is from Svietlahorsk. According to Belpol, she studied at local school №11, and in 2019, she enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism at BSU.
For the last three years, Iryna lived in Northern Cyprus with her cat Betty and constantly traveled. Her social media records trips across Southeast Asia — from Bali and Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur.
In April 2025, Badzilouskaya was in Nepal.
"It was my shortest trip, but I managed to visit most of the famous places in Kathmandu. Nepal for me is the center of all the world's wires. There are a billion of them in one square meter! Monkeys on every corner, a million Tibetan prayer flags, and various temple complexes (and all this mixed with wires)," the girl wrote.
In June 2026, Badzilouskaya decided to leave Cyprus and return to Belarus, but soon embarked on a new trip to Nepal — where she ended up in the disaster zone.
