Vilnius prepares for the possible release of a new group of Belarusian political prisoners

Acting representative of the United Transitional Cabinet for Social Policy Yulia Mitskevich stated that Vilnius is already ready to receive the released prisoners.

“For now, we don’t know how many people there will be, how many of them will remain in Belarus, how many will be brought to Lithuania, and whether this will be, as in previous times, a forced removal without documents. We will most likely not know exactly who will be released until the very last moment,” Yulia Mitskevich noted.

A coalition of human rights organizations and democratic forces, including the Representation for Social Policy, has prepared lists of political prisoners. Separately, they have a humanitarian list — political prisoners who are in the most vulnerable position. These are elderly people, people with illnesses, and those who are in a severe physical condition and primarily require immediate medical assistance.

In Vilnius, the Representation for Social Policy and human rights organizations assisting political prisoners are preparing to receive the released: "Country for Life", "Volnyja", Dissidentby, "Viasna", "Bysol" and others.

Yulia Mitskevich will be at the "Country for Life" shelter, where everything is already ready to receive the released. Volunteers will be working there, ready to provide first aid if necessary.

For each released person, a set of essential items for the first time has been prepared: clothes, personal hygiene products, a mobile phone. There are also necessary medicines that a person may need immediately after release.

“From our side, we are fully prepared. All processes are set up, there is operational communication with the Lithuanian and American sides, as well as between the Representation and human rights organizations involved in assistance and support,” said Yulia Mitskevich.

Rehabilitation programs are also already prepared. But what specific help a person will need will be decided together with them after their release. Some will need to find a separate apartment, some will be able to stay in a shelter, and some will want to go to friends, relatives, or acquaintances in Vilnius.

“This work is already well established. We will monitor how the situation develops, promptly provide information, and act based on the needs of the released. Many thanks to the entire team working together,” emphasized the representative of the UTC.

111, после 5 лет в тюрьмах ты с вероятностью 100% готов был освободиться таким образом ещё и дав подписку о невозврате.

Так то с дивана и не сидев ничего серьезнее суток-сизо невероятно легко рассуждать на эту тему.
