On September 2, at the Benyakoni border crossing point, servicemen of the Lida border detachment stopped an attempt to illegally import drugs from Lithuania into Belarus, the Border Committee of Belarus reports .

During the inspection in the upholstery of a passenger bus, border guards found 12 electronic smoking devices. Expertise showed that the liquid in one of them contained a dangerous narcotic substance - hashish oil.
As a result of operational-search measures, the alleged offender was identified among the bus passengers. He turned out to be a 49-year-old citizen of Latvia, a native of Riga. A medical examination also confirmed that the man had used drugs.
The offender was detained. He is currently in the temporary detention center of the Lida border detachment.
Criminal cases have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Belarus - for illegal drug trafficking, and also Part 1 of Article 328-1 - for illegal movement of drugs across the state border.
