Bridge over Svislach near Victory Square to open after repair by the end of August
The bridge over the Svislach River near Victory Square on Nezalezhnosti Avenue in Minsk is planned to be opened for traffic by early autumn. Repair work should be completed by August 28. This was announced by the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, on the ONT TV channel.

According to the official, traffic restrictions cause inconvenience for Minsk residents, but the work was specifically planned for the summer period, when many people are on vacation, and schoolchildren and students are on holidays. There was no other convenient time for such repairs, according to the mayor.
Kukharev stressed that the main reason for the work is people's safety. He promised that after the completion of the repairs, the city would return to its normal traffic organization by early autumn and the new academic year.
The bridge near Victory Square was closed for repairs on July 6. As part of the work, the old road surface was to be dismantled, the load-bearing capacity of the monolithic slab restored, and the waterproofing of the overpass updated.
In addition, the renovation includes updating pedestrian zones and bike paths, replacing railings, lighting systems, and engineering communications.
At the same time, the external appearance of the bridge is not planned to change significantly: the number of traffic lanes and the width of the sidewalks should remain the same.
