The manor in Padarosk, confiscated from patron Padkarytau, was sold at auction
The historic manor of Chachotas — Bokhvitses in Padarosk, Vaukavysk district, has finally been sold. Ten bidders competed for the estate at the auction on August 20. As a result, its price rose from the starting 450 rubles to almost 201 thousand rubles, writes "Radio Svaboda".
The bidding on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange lasted 4 hours and 17 minutes. During this time, participants made 4457 bids. The new owner is a legal entity from Minsk. Other details have not yet been reported.
Previously, attempts had been made to sell the manor several times. From November 2025, it was put up for auction four times, initially priced at more than 2.16 million rubles. However, no willing buyer was found then.
Earlier, the estate belonged to the Russian businessman with Belarusian roots Pavel Padkarytau, known for his extraordinary dedication and personal involvement in the Belarusian national revival. He acquired the manor in 2013 for approximately 118 thousand dollars and planned to create a tourist complex there. Over ten years, the investor invested about a million dollars in the project, installed utilities, and restored the entrance gate. The palace also housed a temporary exhibition in 14 halls, dedicated to the history of the nobility of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Russian Empire.
In 2023, the authorities confiscated the manor from the previous investor, claiming he failed to fulfill the conditions. In reality, there is a clear political subtext to this, as the confiscation coincided with a widespread campaign to suppress any manifestations of civil activity independent of the authorities in Belarus. Several key employees of "Padarosk Estate" were arrested and spent some time behind bars.
After this, the estate was again put up for sale.
The Padarosk manor is a historical and cultural value. It was built at the end of the XVIII century. The estate had many owners throughout history, with the last ones being representatives of the Bokhvits family. Roman Bokhvits was the son of the famous philosopher Florian Bokhvits. His son Oton was arrested by the Soviet authorities in 1939, and he later died in prison in Vaukavysk.
According to the terms of the current sale, the new owner must begin using the estate no later than three years after signing the purchase and sale agreement, or within the deadlines specified by the project documentation.
