In Belarus, the number of new cases of alcoholism decreased by a full third
In 2025, 12,982 people in Belarus were registered with newly diagnosed "alcoholism" and "alcoholic psychosis". According to Belstat data, over the past ten years, the number of new cases has decreased by 33.6%, or by 6,563 people.

The largest number of new patients in 2025 was registered in Brest region — 2,290 people. The lowest figure was in Grodno region, where 1,567 residents were diagnosed for the first time.
In Minsk, 1,593 new cases of alcohol dependence were detected last year. For comparison, in 2015, 4,184 such cases were registered in the capital. Over the decade, the number of new diagnoses in Minsk decreased by 2.6 times.
Thus, the statistics seemingly indicate a decrease in the number of people newly diagnosed with alcohol dependence and related mental disorders. However, the problem of alcohol abuse in Belarus still remains very relevant. It should be noted that the statistics only take into account those who voluntarily sought help from doctors or came to them through other means.
