In the autumn of 2024, a wave of arrests swept across Belarus as part of the "local chat cases." According to the prosecution, the chat participants allegedly tried to unite into an organization with the aim of seizing power. On October 29, 2024, the KGB recognized the local coalition "Order" as an extremist formation, which included the chats "Zlyya Kohdzyki" (Angry Claws), "Sukhareva", "Senitsa 2.0", "Solidarity", "Volnyya Vaŭki" (Free Wolves), "Navahrudak Partisans", "VILIYA", "Skromnyya Matryoshki" (Modest Matryoshkas) and "Neighbors".

In the Hrodna Regional Court at the end of October 2025, Judge Zinaida Bartsevich sentenced nine residents of Vawkavysk — six women and three men — for participating in the Telegram chat "Volnyya Vaŭki". They were accused of participating in an extremist formation under Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code. Each was sentenced to a term in a penal colony and a fine of 800 basic units, which at that time amounted to 33,600 rubles.

Illia Khodas and Vital Tsynkel received two years and nine months, Natallia Krauchuk — two years and eight months, Liliya Yuruts, Liudmila Shrubok, Volha Prakopchyk, Alena Zhukava, Iryna Dabrynovich, and Viktar Turchenik — two years and six months in a penal colony.

"Viasna" learned that on October 3, Volha Prakopchyk, Alena Zhukava, and Viktar Turchenik were released. They were the last to be released in this case, as the other six people have been free since March 20, 2026.

Illia Khodas, Vital Tsynkel, Natallia Krauchuk, Liliya Yuruts, Liudmila Shrubok, and Iryna Dabrynovich were among a large group of political prisoners released as a result of John Cole's March visit to Minsk. At that time, 250 political prisoners were released, and the vast majority of them were even allowed to remain in Belarus.
