Latushka — Babaryka: I Also Talk to Friends. We Have Different Friends
At the "New Belarus 2026" conference, Viktar Babaryka critically stated that his friends inside the country "are not interested in the activities of democratic forces." Paval Latushka reacted to these words.
During one of the discussions, Viktar Babaryka, who spoke in Belarusian, noted that his main thoughts now are not about how Ukraine and the European Union can help us.
"One thought: what influence, what value have the democratic forces gained over six years?" — said Babaryka and added that we all remember what 2020 was like.
After that, he shared his observations from current communication with friends from Belarus.
"When I talk to friends inside Belarus, they say: we are not interested in what is happening in the democratic community," — said Viktar Babaryka and added that he sees many signals confirming this.
Therefore, Babaryka would like to reflect on what needs to be done to restore the power and value that the democratic opposition had at the beginning of the 2020s?
"This is the topic that interests me. I understand that, perhaps, this is not the topic of this panel discussion. But it seems to me that this is more important. We talk about a window of opportunity, but I have a simple question: why would 6.5 million Belarusians, who by some miracle will have the opportunity to choose their lives, choose those who are in this hall? Why would they choose them? This is the most important question for me," — said Babaryka.
After Viktar Babaryka, Paval Latushka spoke, who decided to respond to this remark.
"I will answer Viktar Dzmitryevich. I also talk to friends — we have different friends," — said Latushka.
