Putin began to avoid trips to regions in the European part of Russia where drones regularly reach
Among the exceptions are Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Valdai, where Putin has residences.

After Putin resumed visits to the regions in June following a long break, he started avoiding visits to regions in the European part of Russia where Ukrainian drones frequently reach, writes "Agentstvo".
Exceptions were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Valdai, where he has residences, and Kazan, where Putin traveled on June 17 for a previously planned "Russia — ASEAN" summit. The visit to Kazan was his first trip to the regions in 223 days.
On July 24, Putin flew to Irkutsk and visited the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.
On July 25, Putin flew to Omsk, where he met with Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and attended a forum on interregional cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.
On August 3, Putin arrived in Krasnoyarsk Krai and met with the head of the region, Mikhail Kotyukov. The authorities did not announce this visit in advance.
Most of the regions Putin visited this summer either do not become targets of AFU attacks at all or were attacked quite rarely.
For the first time, a UAV was shot down in Omsk Oblast on July 6, 2026. On the same day, Omsk airport was closed for the first time since the start of the war. In addition, the Omsk Oil Refinery was attacked for the first time.
In Irkutsk Oblast, drones were recorded only once since the start of the war — in June 2025, an airfield was attacked as part of the AFU "Spiderweb" operation. At that time, drones were launched from trucks on Russian territory.
In Krasnoyarsk Krai, drones have not been shot down once since the start of the war.
Only Tatarstan is regularly subjected to AFU attacks. During Putin's visit to Kazan, strict security measures were adopted in the city. These included bringing security forces from other regions to the city, imposing a ban on scooter movement on several streets, and warning residents about expected communication problems.
Before the break, Putin last visited the regions in November 2025. After the alleged attack on Valdai in December, Putin was concerned about his security, a source close to the Kremlin told "Project".
