One of the participants of the recent World Cup is joining a Belarusian club
Football club "ML Vitebsk" announced the signing of a contract with experienced Iranian defender Milad Mohammadi. For Belarusian football, this is one of the most high-profile transfers of recent times, writes Times.by.

The 32-year-old footballer is a player for the Iranian national team, for which he has played as many as 78 matches. He participated in three World Cups, including the 2026 World Cup, which recently took place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
At the World Cup, Mohammadi appeared on the field in group stage matches against the national teams of New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt. All three matches ended in a 1:1 draw. However, although the Iranian team did not suffer any defeats, this was not enough for them to advance to the playoffs.
At club level, the Iranian previously played for Russian "Akhmat", Belgian "Genk", Greek AEK, and Turkish "Adana Demirspor".
Earlier, the squad of "ML Vitebsk" was also joined by Belgian midfielder Silas Gnakpa, whose transfer value is estimated at approximately one million euros, and Dutch footballer Danillo Cleonise.
In European competitions, the champion of Belarus has already finished its participation in the Champions League qualification, having twice lost to Romanian "Universitatea". Now the Vitebsk team will continue their fight in the second qualifying round of the Conference League, where their opponent will be Montenegrin "Sutjeska". The first match will take place on July 23 in Mezőkövesd, Hungary, where "ML Vitebsk" will host their opponent as the nominal home team.
