In Bobruisk, a 22-year-old man contacted the police after finding three pistols and ammunition in his uncle's apartment. It turned out that the uncle had secretly kept the weapons for a long time as a family heirloom passed down from his grandfather, reports the State Forensic Examination Committee.
Police officers inspected the apartment, confiscated the weapons and cartridges, and then handed them over for forensic ballistic examination to the department of the State Forensic Examination Committee for Mogilev region.
Experts determined that all three pistols are genuine factory-made rifled firearms and are suitable for firing. These include a 6.35 mm Korovin system pistol, a 9 mm German Borchardt-Luger (Parabellum P08) pistol, and a 7.65 mm Mauser Model 1914 pistol.
Two German pistols were widely used during World War II. The Korovin pistol was the first serial Soviet self-loading pistol, developed in 1926. It was supplied to NKVD USSR officers, command staff of the Red Army, as well as state and party workers.
Despite their considerable age, all three samples were well-preserved and remained in working order. In addition, experts deemed the seven confiscated cartridges, which were also factory-made, suitable for use.
The Pervomaisky District Police Department of Bobruisk is conducting an investigation into the illegal storage of weapons.
