Football collector who dressed youth in T-shirts with Lukashenka died
Well-known football collector Georgiy Darbuashvili has died in Brest. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with an oncological disease, writes "Onliner".
Information about Georgiy Darbuashvili's death was confirmed to "Onliner" by the football club "Dynamo" (Brest).
Georgiy Darbuashvili was born in North Ossetia, and in his childhood, he practiced freestyle wrestling. At the age of 13, he moved to South Ossetia with his father, where he continued his sports activities.
After serving in the army, he went to Rostov-on-Don to continue his sports career. At one of the tournaments, he was noticed by Brest coach Nikolai Budkevich, who invited the young wrestler to move to Brest. In 1983, he moved to Belarus, where he lived until the end of his life.
From 1985, he worked in Brest as an instructor for sports and mass work with children. A year later, he founded the women's football club "Victoria", which became the champion of Belarus in 1995.
In 2010, he was elected as a deputy of the Brest City Council of Deputies and then gained infamous notoriety throughout Belarus. On November 21, a match between Brest "Dynamo" and Bobruisk "Belshina" took place in Brest. During the match, about 30 children and teenagers were present at the stadium, dressed in multicolored T-shirts with a portrait of Lukashenka and the inscription "Our President".
The initiator of this action was none other than Georgiy Darbuashvili. During the break, the show continued, with young male and female footballers from the Brest region being awarded on the running track, also dressed in the same T-shirts.
Darbuashvili also gained fame as a collector. He assembled a unique collection of sports artifacts and was known for this far beyond Brest.
