A guy who lived in Ivano-Frankivsk and came to visit relatives in Russia was jailed for 13 years — for $60 in donations
The Sverdlovsk Regional Court in Russia sentenced 34-year-old Ivan Stolbov to 13 years in a strict-regime penal colony on charges of high treason. The criminal case was initiated due to 11 financial transactions to the account of one of the Ukrainian organizations. According to court data, each transfer amounted to approximately 100 Hryvnias (about $2.24), writes the "Mediazona" publication.
Ivan Stolbov was born in the city of Sarapul, Udmurtia, and holds Russian citizenship. Before his arrest, he lived in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and was not registered in Russia.
The man, who worked as a procurement manager, came to Russia to visit relatives. He was detained at Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg.
According to court materials, Stolbov was detained in early July 2025. After that, he was arrested three times under administrative protocols. First – for petty hooliganism, and later twice more – for petty hooliganism and disobeying an FSB officer.
The last two detentions took place immediately after the man was released from the Yekaterinburg special detention center. Court decisions claimed that in the morning he allegedly swore near a building opposite the special detention center.
However, Stolbov's mother and sister, who came to meet him around 8 am, never saw their relative. According to them, around 8:36 am, unknown masked people drove up to the gates of the special detention center, and approximately four minutes later, a car left the territory.
Stolbov's lawyer stated in court that her client was put into a car and taken directly from the territory of the special detention center. She declined to provide additional comments, citing attorney-client privilege.
It is also noted in the court decision that Stolbov suffers from juvenile epilepsy and has been taking medication since he was 17 years old.
