In Minsk, a huge shopping center, which has been under construction for 15 years, is promised to open by the end of the year

In Minsk, they have again promised to open the Mega Park shopping center in Kamennaya Gorka, at the intersection of Kazimirovskaya and Kamennogorskaya streets. Its construction has already dragged on for 15 years instead of the originally planned five, writes Blizko.by.

The company "Mega-Active", which is the owner and developer of Mega Park, announced that it has received a positive conclusion from the state expertise for the architectural design of the building. Construction works have already resumed, and they plan to open the shopping center by the end of 2026.

"Mega-Active" is part of the "Santa" group of companies. The project is being implemented under the control of "Santa-Service" company, whose portfolio includes TSUM in Brest, TSUM in Grodno, and the Minsk shopping center Magnit.

The total area of Mega Park's two floors is about 58 thousand square meters. On the first floor, they plan to locate a "Susiedzi" supermarket with an area of 4.5 thousand square meters, as well as the first multi-brand store of clothing, footwear, and household goods "TSUD" in Minsk, with an area of about 4 thousand square meters.

Initially, construction of the shopping center in Kamennaya Gorka began back in 2012 under an investment agreement. It was planned to open it in 2017. The project envisioned a large modern complex with parking for approximately 1200 cars.

Mega Park intended to open a multi-screen cinema, an ice arena, a family entertainment center, a children's development center, a fitness center, cafes, and a food court.

However, the opening did not happen in 2017. 2020 was named as the new deadline, but even then, the shopping center did not open. Although the building was practically completed, works eventually stopped, and its appearance remained almost unchanged for several years.

The initial client for the construction was LLC "Vinteroinvest" with foreign capital. Later, Nadezhda Lazarevich, the first deputy chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee, stated that the investor had left, after which the city considered the possibility of completing the construction independently. As a result, the authorities decided to sell the property at auction.

The first attempts to sell the complex in 2023 were unsuccessful. The auction, scheduled for October, did not take place — no one wanted to purchase the property at a starting price of approximately 121 million rubles.

No buyer was found at the subsequent auction in November. In December, the starting price was reduced by approximately half — to 60.8 million rubles, but this auction also did not take place.

At the end of December 2023, the unfinished shopping center was put up for sale for 24.67 million rubles. This amount included the cost of the building itself and the right to lease the land plot for five years.

Thus, within a few months, the starting price of the property decreased by almost five times. This time the auction took place, and in January 2024, Mega Park finally found a new owner. The final amount for which the unfinished shopping center was sold was not disclosed.

Now the new owner is resuming works and expects that after all these years, Mega Park will finally open to visitors by the end of 2026.
