A Club from an Island with 600 Residents Reaches Main Draw of French Football Cup
Football club "Miquelon", based on Miquelon Island — in the Saint Pierre and Miquelon archipelago off the coast of Canada, has made it to the main draw of the French Football Cup.
"Miquelon" managed to get through the entire qualifying stage and earned the right to play in the French Cup; the tournament starts from the 1/128 final.
The club represents an island located near the coast of Canada, but administratively belongs to France. The neighboring, larger island of Saint Pierre is home to approximately five thousand residents, so the footballers are accustomed to truly small and very intimate support.
Now, the team faces flights across the Atlantic for every cup match. If fate brings "Miquelon" together with one of the giants, for example, with "Paris Saint-Germain", the French stars will have to travel to a corner of their country almost unknown to most compatriots.

The participation of a team from such a remote territory has become one of the brightest stories of the current qualification and will undoubtedly attract the attention of fans from all over France to the archipelago.
Football clubs from Saint Pierre and Miquelon have participated in the French Cup only since the 2018/19 season. However, until now, only teams from Saint Pierre Island have played. During this time, none of them managed to get past the third round, where they met teams from mainland France.
The new main draw of the French Cup will begin in mid-September, with the draw taking place on August 23.
