In Minsk, at the intersection of Pushkin Avenue and Prytytski Street, the so-called waffle road marking has been applied again. This was reported by the capital's State Automobile Inspectorate (GAI).

The waffle marking is a yellow grid with square cells and is provided for by the Traffic Rules. It designates a section of the intersection that is prohibited to enter if a traffic jam has formed ahead and the driver would be forced to stop directly on the intersection.
The GAI believes that the use of such marking will help reduce the number of traffic jams, improve passage through the intersection, and reduce the risk of road traffic accidents.
Control over compliance with the requirements will be carried out around the clock, including with the use of cameras from the Republican Public Safety Monitoring System.
If ignoring the requirements of the waffle marking leads to the creation of an emergency situation or a road traffic accident, the violator may face a fine of 5 to 20 base values, as well as deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to two years.
This marking was first applied at the intersection of Pushkin Avenue and Prytytski Street back in 2023. At that time, it also appeared at two other intersections in the Belarusian capital.
