Yesterday, an attempt by a group of five people to illegally cross the Latvian border was recorded, writes Delfi.lv.
"Upon noticing the military personnel, these people began to behave aggressively, throwing log sections at the soldiers. To stop the illegal actions and prevent further escalation of the situation, the military used tear gas. As the violators continued to ignore the legitimate demands of the authorities and maintained aggressive behavior, one warning shot was fired into the air, after which they retreated into the territory of Belarus," the National Armed Forces stated.
Representatives of the Latvian Army stated that this is another example of using illegal migration as an instrument of hybrid warfare and a deliberate provocation against Latvia and other EU and NATO countries with external borders.
