Former Head of Sheremetyevo Airport Terminal, Through Which Prigozhin Flew on His Last Flight, Found Hanged in Moscow
Aleksey Karshenka, the former head of the business aviation terminal at Sheremetyevo Airport, has been found dead in Moscow. His body was discovered on June 6 on the balcony of his apartment. According to Russian media reports, the investigation considers suicide as the primary version. Approximately three weeks before his death, Karshenka was fired from his job, writes The Moscow Times.
Aleksey Karshenka was one of the creators of Sheremetyevo's VIP terminal, which opened in 2011. It was through this terminal that the plane of Wagner PMC head Yevgeny Prigozhin passed in August 2023 before its last flight. After departure, the business jet crashed in the Tver region, killing everyone on board.
According to information from sources of the "VChK-OGPU" Telegram channel, Karshenka might have possessed information about the preparation of the aircraft for departure. According to these reports, malfunctions were discovered during technical maintenance, including a problem with one of the units, which was later replaced. Unconfirmed assumptions are also being made that the new equipment could have contained an explosive device.
Reportedly, after the catastrophe, transport security employees tried to examine the aircraft inspection materials but were denied access to video recordings, documentation, and other materials. Some documents, it is claimed, were seized by Russian special service agents.
In June 2023, Yevgeny Prigozhin led an armed rebellion. After negotiations mediated by Alexander Lukashenka, the rebels stopped their advance on Moscow. Two months later, Prigozhin's plane crashed.
According to the official version of the Russian authorities, the cause of the plane crash was an explosion of a hand grenade on board, but there are great doubts about the veracity of this version.
