Head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs promised to mirror all Polish steps: Nawrocki receives applause from Moscow

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine promised to mirror all unfriendly steps taken by Poland.
“We will mirror all steps, especially if these steps are unfriendly and humiliating for our country. The time for ignoring has passed.
[Polish President Karol] Nawrocki acted as a destroyer of the positive developments we have achieved recently. It's no wonder he receives applause from Moscow,” stated Sybiha.
The minister noted that many of Ukraine's partners showed solidarity and condemned the actions of the Polish president.
“We call on Poles to be balanced and diplomatic. We are open to political dialogue. We talk daily with our Polish friends about how to maintain the diplomatic track. We are united by common challenges, interests, and a common European future,” Sybiha said.
He added that Ukraine and Poland must get rid of the influence of the past on our relations.
“It is important to set emotions aside. We have mechanisms, previous positive experience, and will. Ukraine is ready for honest and equal dialogue. Our subjectivity is growing. Someone may not like it, but these are the realities.” — the minister noted.
The conflict between Warsaw and Kyiv arose after Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in May 2026, awarded one of the units of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces the honorary title "Heroes of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army." In Poland, this caused criticism due to the UPA's connection to the events in Volyn in 1943–1944.
After Nawrocki's decision to strip Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, which he had received from former Polish President Andrzej Duda, the Ukrainian leader returned the award to Poland. Following this, a similar decision was made by Kuchma, Yushchenko, and Poroshenko. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration Kyrylo Budanov, and Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar also returned their awards.
