The story of the crow's nest built on a construction crane in "Minsk-World" has come to an end
In late April, the publication "Smartpress" wrote about how a pair of grey crows built a nest right on a tower crane in "Minsk-World" and even demanded a "bribe" from the crane operator, to which he, in principle, did not object. Now it has become known how this story ended.
Time passed, and the story developed: eggs appeared in the nest, to the creation of which, incidentally, crane operator Eduard also contributed by throwing wire into it. There were five eggs in the full clutch, but then one disappeared somewhere. It probably became a meal for some predatory bird.
One morning in mid-May, climbing to his workplace, the crane operator saw that the crows had become parents: a newly hatched chick lay among the eggs. The next day there were already two little ones. However, no one hatched from the remaining eggs, and over time they disappeared from the nest.
The "twins" that came into the world grew. The parents carefully watched over their offspring, circling threateningly even above their provider Eduard when he climbed onto and descended from the crane.
Unfortunately, the nest's protection proved insufficient, and summer for the crow pair began with unpleasant news: only one chick remained in the nest.
"Looks like the end of the story," Eduard sent this message this morning along with several photos and videos.
They show an empty nest, and not far from it, the crow pair's sole surviving "heir". He is alive and well and has finally left the parental home.
This family story is indeed nearing its end. Until the fledgling confidently takes to wing, the parents will be nearby, and then the family will leave their settled home.
Crows usually do not reuse their nests. Sometimes they dismantle last year's dwelling for building materials for a new home they build nearby. And sometimes old crow nests become a refuge for other birds, such as owls or small falcons. However, they did not wait for new feathered neighbors at the construction site: the nest was already dismantled and disposed of.
