Salary like an IT specialist: a Belarusian tractor driver is offered up to 10 thousand rubles. We figured out what the secret is

A vacancy has appeared on the Belarusian state employment portal that could easily become a dream for many Belarusians. The enterprise "Vishnyavetski-Agro" from Stolbtsy district is looking for a tractor driver-machine operator for agricultural production and promises him from 5000 to 10,000 rubles per month.

General secondary education is sufficient for employment, and knowledge of Russian is indicated as basic, meaning the job is also suitable for foreign citizens.

For comparison, most tractor drivers in Belarusian farms today receive from 1200 to 3000 rubles, even during the season, it's often 3000-5000 rubles. Therefore, the offer of 10 thousand seems absolutely exceptional.

Where does such money come from?

To earn 10 thousand, you practically have to live in the tractor

Posing as an applicant, we called the farm's HR department.

They explained that 5000 rubles can be earned during the season with a 12-hour workday. However, the upper limit of 10 thousand means almost continuous work, almost 24/7.

"If you want to earn ten thousand, you practically have to live in the tractor. Work both day and night," the farm explained.

They also noted that the work involves agrochemistry.

"The worker will be involved in applying herbicides, plant protection products against weeds, pests, and diseases. Primarily, this concerns the treatment of rapeseed and grain. In other words, it's work with chemicals," the HR department stated.

It should be noted that herbicides are strong poisons, and such work is considered harmful to health.

Big money — only a few months a year

Another important nuance is seasonality. The HR department explained to us that high salaries coincide with the period of active field processing – the most intensive period lasts about two months.

Then everything is like for other machine operators: in winter, equipment repair, between seasons it varies. So, in "quiet" months, a tractor driver can receive from 800 to 3000 rubles depending on the volume of work.

How dangerous is such work?

The work of a sprayer operator is indeed considered one of the most harmful in crop production.

Herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides belong to the group of pesticides — substances designed to combat pests, weeds, and plant diseases. If safety regulations are violated or during prolonged contact, they can enter the body through the respiratory tract and skin.

The World Health Organization estimates the number of unintentional pesticide poisoning cases worldwide to be approximately 385 million annually. Most often, this occurs in countries where the use of agrochemicals is poorly controlled and safety requirements are violated.

Even modern sprayers do not eliminate the risk of contact with agrochemicals. The greatest health threats arise during the preparation of solutions, mixing concentrated preparations, filling tanks, flushing the system, and repairing equipment.

And how much do tractor drivers usually get paid?

Against the backdrop of the promised 10 thousand rubles, the offer from "Vishnyavetski-Agro" looks more like an exception.

An analysis of vacancies on the state employment portal shows that most tractor driver-machine operators in Belarusian agricultural enterprises can expect 1200-2500 rubles per month.

During the sowing or harvesting season, salaries often increase to 3000-5000 rubles. In some individual farms, offers of 6000-7000 rubles can be found, but they are also tied to intensive seasonal work.

By the way, this is not the first time that the "Vishnyavetski-Agro" farm is looking for such a specialist. Already in March, the enterprise offered a tractor driver from 3 to 6 thousand rubles.
