Air temperature in Belarus may reach +39°C at the beginning of next week
The southwest of the country will be the epicenter of the heat.
The 500-1000 hPa relative topography map from the ECMWF model shows a large-scale transfer of tropical air mass to Eastern Europe at the end of June. Because of this, Belarus will find itself in a zone of strong thermal gradient, the Telegram channel «Meteovibe» reports.
The epicenter of the heat will be the southwest of the country. There, the thickness of the atmospheric layer, increased due to the heat, will grow to 576-580 dam (this means a rise of the 500 hPa pressure level boundary to 5800 meters), and the temperature at the T850 height (about 1.5 km) will reach +23°C. Such indicators are very rare for Belarus and are capable of breaking absolute temperature records.
The maximum temperature in the southwest on Monday, June 29, may rise to +36…+39°C (ECMWF model), and tropical nights are expected — not lower than +20°C.

Heat of +35°C and above is considered a dangerous meteorological phenomenon. If this scenario materializes, Belhydromet may declare a red (maximum) level of danger in the southwest of the country.
Currently, the heat record in Belarus is considered to be +38.9°C in Lelchitsy on August 8, 2010.
