A resident of the capital saw an advertisement promising high and quick returns from investments. She followed the link and called the specified phone number in a messenger. The interlocutor assigned a personal "curator" to the 75-year-old pensioner to conduct transactions on the exchange.
The curator stated the need to open a special account for operations and profit storage. For this, the woman installed an application on her smartphone.
With the help of software downloaded according to the curator's instructions, the attackers gained control over the device and access to the pensioner's internet banking personal account, and also created a virtual card.
For six months, the Minsk resident transferred money to an account controlled by the fraudsters, being confident that she was successfully participating in trading on the financial market. In total, the pensioner lost more than 33 thousand rubles.
Now, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident on the fact of fraud.
