Statkevich: Scaring Ukrainians with tanks in the Pripet swamps is the same as scaring a hedgehog with a bare ass
The politician in his Telegram channel commented on the news about the shutdown of repeaters on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. He writes: "To turn off does not mean to remove."
"Kyiv states that for several days now, Russian drones have not been guided with the help of repeaters located on Belarusian territory, but it is unknown if they have been removed from there. So far, it is clearly understood that those repeaters are simply not working. But for what reason — is unknown. Either they were removed, which I do not believe, or they are temporarily not being used by the Russian side after requests from Minsk and ironic comments from Moscow," writes the ex-political prisoner.
"However, Moscow will respond to Ukrainian strikes, and its stock of ballistic missiles is replenished slowly. Therefore, just as the repeaters were turned off, they will be turned on during the next drone strike on Ukraine. To which Kyiv will respond without any ultimatums or warnings.
Attempts to scare Ukraine with the help of imaginary or even real tanks will have no impression on Kyiv. Because now, to scare Ukrainians with tanks in the Pripet swamps is the same as scaring a hedgehog with a bare ass. Therefore, my advice on the optimal reaction option in case of a strike on "non-existent" repeaters remains valid," wrote Mikola Statkevich.
Last Friday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that repeaters are located on the border of Ukraine with Belarus, in the territory of two Belarusian regions, which help Russia adjust fire on the Ukrainian civilian population.
Then the President of Ukraine stated that "a week would be enough" for Aliaksandr Lukashenka to disable such equipment, otherwise Ukraine would do it itself.
This Wednesday, Zelenskyy said that the repeaters have not been working since Monday.
