Council of Ministers Resolution No. 315 "On the closure of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea" is dated June 24. It has not yet been published.
Agreements on the exchange of embassies between Belarus and Equatorial Guinea were reached in 2023. They were announced by the head of the African state, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, during his visit to Minsk. In December of that year, Alexander Lukashenka flew there for a visit. He called Equatorial Guinea a priority direction.
In December 2023, the government adopted a resolution providing for the opening of an embassy by August 1, 2024. In June 2024, the Council of Ministers appointed a salary for the ambassador to Equatorial Guinea.
However, the opening of the embassy and the appointment of an ambassador were not reported, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website lacks information about the corresponding diplomatic mission.
Currently, the country is represented in Equatorial Guinea at the level of a chargé d'affaires. This is Vladislav Zhur. On June 10, he met with the country's vice president, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue. The development of the 2023 agreements was discussed.
