Firefighters unable to extinguish fire in historic building in central Minsk for almost five hours
The fire in a six-story residential building on Lenin Street in Minsk has been localized, but firefighters continue to extinguish it, reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations press service.

MCHS (Ministry of Emergency Situations) units continue to work at the scene. More than 20 units of equipment, including eight aerial platforms and other high-rise machines, have been deployed to extinguish the blaze.
According to the MCHS, rescuers saved three people, and another five were evacuated.
Rescuer Sergei Novik, who is directing the fire extinguishing efforts, reported that the fire covers an area exceeding 1000 square meters. The rafter structures in the attic are burning. According to him, MCHS employees are working in conditions of high temperature and heavy smoke, doing everything possible to prevent further spread of the fire.
The Minister for Emergency Situations, Vadim Sinyavsky, also arrived at the scene of the emergency.
