The son of Russian human rights activist Alena Vasilyeva was found dead in Brest.
On June 25, Yauhen Vasilyeu traveled from Moscow to Brest to film the Star Time manicure competition there: Vasilyeu worked as an executive director in one of Moscow's photo studios, his mother told the "Sota" channel.
Vasilyeva learned about her son's death from his friend in Moscow, whom the head of the competition's organizing group contacted. According to her,
the man allegedly drank 2 bottles of whiskey alone overnight "in a crowd of 15 people," after which some man entered his room — and in the morning, Vasilyeu was found dead.
His mother notes that he never consumed alcohol in large doses.
According to Vasilyeva, who received asylum in Finland in 2017 and had recently received many anonymous death threats, her son, who remained in Russia, helped her with many anti-war projects since 2014: he kept in touch with Boris Nemtsov, collected statistics on Russians killed in the war, and created anti-war posters.
Alena Vasilyeva is a Russian human rights activist who, since 2014, compiled a "Cargo 200" list of Russian servicemen killed while fighting in Ukraine.
