Spotify Threatened with Blocking in Belarus

The operation of the music service Spotify may be restricted in Belarus. This was reported by the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, without directly naming the company, but from the context, it is unequivocally clear that this service is in question.

The agency stated that the Swedish company has not paid taxes on income received from Belarusian users. Because of this, it has been included in the list of companies with tax arrears, and its activities in Belarus may be restricted.

According to the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, they have been working with the company for about six months, offering it to voluntarily repay the debt. If this does not happen, measures to restrict access to the service may be applied.

The ministry also noted that there are other foreign companies on the Belarusian market that comply with tax requirements and can offer their services to users.

It is not yet reported when exactly a decision on the possible restriction of Spotify's operations might be made.

Spotify is the world's largest streaming service, allowing users to legally listen to music, podcasts, and watch videos online. It was founded in Sweden in 2006 and completely changed how people consume audio content. Instead of downloading each song to a device, you simply play it online from a huge database (which already contains over 100 million tracks).

Да на самом деле могут себе хоть ан*с заблокировать. Кто от этого решения выиграет? Никто. Налог как был неуплачен, так и останется, а белорусики будут страдать и слушать в вк музыке или яндексе. Что опять же бабки зарубеж.
