Russia's Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine used a long-range ballistic missile for the first time
In its daily summary for the past day, the Russian Ministry of Defense mentioned shooting down an unusual target.
"Air defense systems shot down 7 guided aerial bombs, an operational-tactical long-range missile, and 602 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles," the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
It can be assumed that the operational-tactical long-range missile refers to the Ukrainian FP-9 ballistic missile, which until now was believed to be under development. But now, it's likely time for its test launch.
The location where this downing occurred is not specified, but based on indirect data, experts name the Moscow region. As claimed, yesterday a photo appeared online showing the interception of a target over it, characteristic of a ballistic missile's flight altitude, as well as a crater from it.
A few days ago, Denis Shtylyerman, founder and chief designer of Ukraine's largest military company Fire Point, announced in an interview with the YouTube channel Pressing the first launch of the FP-9 ballistic missile in the near future.
