On September 16, a monument to the legendary Belarusian wrestler, three-time Olympic champion Alexander Medved, will be solemnly unveiled in Minsk. The ceremony will take place at 12:00 PM at the Eastern Cemetery, where the athlete, who passed away in September 2024, is buried.

The ceremony will coincide with Medved's birthday.
Representatives of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, the National Olympic Committee, Minsk City Executive Committee, the Belarusian Wrestling Federation, sports veterans, colleagues, students, and relatives of Medved will take part in the event.
Alexander Medved is a seven-time world champion and one of the most famous Belarusian athletes of the 20th century. He became an Olympic champion three times and became a symbol of the Belarusian wrestling school, although he himself came from the city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region, Ukraine.
