Vital Kulyashou, former head of the Hantsavichy District Department of Internal Affairs (DDIA), voluntarily left the Baranavichy Psychoneurological Dispensary yesterday. In the Hantsavichy district, and beyond, the former head of the district police is well-known. He gained notoriety thanks to his phrase during the detention of journalists: "Turn off this bullshit, or tomorrow they'll fire you from work," writes "Hantsavichy Chas".
Kulyashou headed the district police department in September 2019, with almost two decades of service in internal affairs bodies behind him, and in his first interviews, he pondered the principles of service.
Then came 2020, and discussions about principles received a practical test.
On June 20, 2020, in the center of Hantsavichy, the police detained participants of the "chain of solidarity". Along with them, newspaper journalists who were conducting a live broadcast were detained. Vital Kulyashou later confirmed in court that he had participated in the detention.
That's where the famous story with the camera originated, along with Kulyashou's phrase, which became a meme online: "Turn off this bullshit, or tomorrow they'll fire you from work." It seems the camera was indeed the most inconvenient witness then.
The mother of one of those detained in those days recounted that medics later recorded bodily injuries on her son.
In the summer of 2021, Kulyashou's police career unexpectedly ended.
Before Kulyashou's dismissal, as the publication writes, questions arose not about his political loyalty, but about much more mundane matters: specific financial operations, distribution of bonuses, and management of the DDIA's property.
Later in the life of the former head of the DDIA, a severe crisis episode occurred - a suicide attempt, after which he required psychiatric help.
As a result, he ended up in a psychiatric dispensary, from which he left yesterday. He was sought by police and rescuers. Today, he was found.
