Head of the Bundeswehr called for preparing the entire German society for defense
Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer stated that Germany must involve not only the army but also industry and society as a whole in defense.
Speaking at the IISS Prague Defence Summit, he emphasized that military forces alone and new technologies are not enough to counter modern threats, writes Bild.
According to Breuer, military strategies quickly become obsolete due to the pace of technological development, and Germany needs to study Ukraine's experience more closely.
«Russia is learning. They copy and adapt. They innovate to counter and circumvent our strengths. Technology should not dictate what we do. We must dictate what we do with technology,» the general stated.
Breuer also stated that it is impossible to counter hybrid threats with the forces of a single army.
«Without you, we soldiers are doomed to fail. But failure is not an option. Because it would mean a mortal threat to our societies as we know them. We are all in the same boat,» he said.
