An Orsha fisherman made an unusual and dangerous discovery. Returning from fishing, he noticed an object resembling a revolver at the bottom of a reservoir. After retrieving it from the water, the man voluntarily handed the weapon over to the police, the State Forensic Examination Committee reports .
The man was walking along the bridge near the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos and decided to check the water level in the canal. It was then that he saw an object at the bottom that resembled a weapon.
To determine the characteristics of the discovery, the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee conducted a forensic ballistic examination.
Experts determined that it was a seven-shot revolver, manufactured in a homemade manner. Despite its origin, its design almost exactly replicates the 1895 Nagant revolver.
During experimental firing, specialists found that the specific kinetic energy of projectiles when fired from this revolver significantly exceeds the level sufficient to injure a human.
According to the experts' conclusion, the revolver is suitable for firing 5.6×16R rimfire rifle cartridges. It was recognized as a rifled firearm.
