In Spanish Seville, a man found an expensive painting by a famous artist on the street
Andrés Hurtado, a resident of Spanish Seville, accidentally found a painting on the street that, as it later turned out, is worth up to 150,000 euros, reports Bild.
The man said that at first, it was not the canvas itself that attracted him, but the gilded frame. He took the painting home, and later, with the help of artificial intelligence, he discovered that it might be a work by the famous Spanish Impressionist painter Joaquín Sorolla (1863—1923). Later, an auction house confirmed the authenticity of the artwork.
It turned out that the original owners of the painting accidentally left it near their house while loading their car before a holiday. According to Spanish media reports, the family had a habit of taking this canvas with them on trips. When they noticed its disappearance, they immediately contacted the police.
Upon learning about the search, Andrés Hurtado himself contacted law enforcement and handed over the find to its rightful owners.
The story ended happily: the painting was returned to its owners, whole and preserved. As a token of gratitude, they will give an honest Hurtado a small gift.
