Vučić cited Belarusian regional equality as an example and placed Barysaŭ on par with Minsk
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić called Belarus an example of a country with balanced economic development. According to him, regional centers and even the district town of Barysaŭ are financed and developed there on par with the capital.
As reported by the Radiosarajevo portal, the Serbian leader made the corresponding statement during an inspection of the construction of a new transport highway.
Vučić emphasized the need to reduce the gap in living standards between Serbian cities and to ensure that the average salary in all regions of the country is no lower than 1000 euros.
He noted that currently in Belgrade, this figure is 1380-1400 euros, while in the provinces it is significantly lower (for example, in the city of Sombor - only 864 euros).
To illustrate the importance of uniform territorial development, Vučić mentioned the Belarusian experience of resource distribution.
«They always had Brest, Grodno, Vitebsk, Mogilev, Gomel, Barysaŭ and Minsk — and all of them are uniformly developed. What some receive, others receive the same. In our country, however, Belgrade and Novi Sad have pulled far ahead. Now Niš is gradually catching up, Kragujevac too, but we still need to work very hard on other cities and districts,» the publication quoted the President of Serbia as saying.
Meanwhile, the Serbian leader's perception that the capital and regions in Belarus receive the same is refuted by official statistics. According to Belstat data, the average monthly salary in the Barysaŭ district for 2025 was 2,407 Belarusian rubles. Even in the most profitable December of last year, it only reached 2,725 rubles. At the same time, the average salary in Minsk in the same month was 4,290 rubles, exceeding the Barysaŭ figure by more than one and a half times.
