Blackout occurred simultaneously in four Central Asian countries
On the afternoon of August 14, power outages occurred simultaneously in four countries — Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, writes Meduza.

In Bishkek, residents of some districts began complaining about power outages around 3:00 PM local time. The country's Ministry of Energy stated that they are aware of the problems, but cannot yet name the causes of the incident.
Shortly thereafter, electricity was cut off in four districts of Almaty and ten districts of the Almaty region. According to local energy services, the blackout occurred due to an accident on overhead power lines.
In Almaty, today's Kanye West concert is under threat of cancellation.
Residents of Dushanbe, as well as several other cities and districts of Tajikistan, are complaining about the lack of electricity. The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources could not name the causes of the blackout but denied the version of an accident at the Nurek HPP — the country's largest power plant.
Power outages also affected several regions of Uzbekistan, particularly the Surkhandarya region in the south of the country.
