"They are afraid that he might blow something up directly from prison." Seviarynets - about the main Belarusian "terrorist" Autukhovich
Pavel Seviarynets told about the conditions of detention of political prisoner, entrepreneur and politician Mikalai Autukhovich.

"Mikalai Autukhovich, a political prisoner and the main Belarusian 'terrorist,' is feared most by the administration of Hrodna prison.
For two and a half years in Hrodna covered prison, I regularly saw him in a cage at the 'commission' – in line for punishment, most often in the punishment cell (ShIZA).
A separate cell, number 50 on the third floor of the investigative building ("Amerikanka"), is reserved for Autukhovich.
The cell is special, with double doors. A very cramped "single cell," in the middle of which is a pipe from ceiling to floor. And this pipe is a sewage drain: you sleep, and above your head, it gurgles and roars.
From time to time, Autukhovich is transferred to a neighboring building, to "Bastion" – and there some informant tries to find out what Autukhovich is currently thinking.
I had to sit immediately with several such "Autukhovich specialists" – because the same personnel "work" with key political figures, and at the same time they check relationships between opposition members. I heard a lot.
In short, Autukhovich is a nightmare for the administration.
They are afraid that Autukhovich is plotting something against Lukashenka personally, the Astravets NPP, and the Union with Russia. They are afraid that he might blow something up directly from prison. They are afraid that he will create and lead an underground movement.
Because Autukhovich is a brave "Afghan veteran," a warrior, a Belarusian partisan. He speaks quietly and softly, but says things that give the "siloviki" (security forces) goosebumps.
Autukhovich has spent half his life in prisons. I remember, in 2014, Volha and I went to meet Autukhovich, who was being released from that same Hrodna prison. Mikalai was supposed to be released in the evening, but people gathered, waited all night until morning – and only when not a single person remained at the prison gate, Autukhovich was secretly led out.
Autukhovich will be released. Sooner or later – he will be released. And then the worst will come for those who serve the regime: instead of orders, the law will begin to work," Seviarynets wrote.
In 2022, after a lengthy trial, political prisoner, entrepreneur, and politician Mikalai Autukhovich was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was accused under 12 articles of the Criminal Code, including "treason" and "attempted seizure of power."
On January 7, 2026, Autukhovich turned 63 years old.
