Belarusian tourists found human remains in the mountains of Almaty region in southern Kazakhstan. They made the discovery during a descent after a two-week mountain trek, tengrinews.kz reports .

As the author of the post from Kazakhstan reported on Facebook, on August 16, her Belarusian friends, who are into mountain tourism, found human remains on the Severtsov Glacier, presumably belonging to a tourist.

The tourists immediately reported the discovery to rescuers. Currently, employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Almaty region, together with the police, are investigating the circumstances and identifying the deceased.
An emergency helicopter with specialists from the Republican Operational Rescue Squad "Barys" and the Disaster Medicine Center was dispatched to retrieve the remains from the glacier.
Rescuers emphasized that the work is complicated by the high altitude, the inaccessibility of the area, challenging mountain terrain, steep slopes, and harsh high-altitude conditions.
After the remains are brought down, specialists will need to identify the deceased, including through DNA expertise if necessary.
