Krystsina Tsimanouskaya and Maryia Zhodzik won medals at the European Athletics Championships
Runner Krystsina Tsimanouskaya and high jumper Maryia Zhodzik, who once competed for Belarus, represented Poland at this championship, writes Tribuna.
Krystsina Tsimanouskaya participated as part of the Polish national team in the 4x100 meter relay. The athletes finished it with a result of 43.15 and came in third. The British team was first (42.05), and the Swiss team was second (43.12).
For Tsimanouskaya, this is the first medal at international competitions of this level since 2019. At that time, while still competing for Belarus, she won two silver medals (in the 100-meter dash and in team competitions) at the European Games in Minsk, and also became the winner in the 200-meter dash at the Universiade in Naples, Italy.
Maryia Zhodzik won silver with a height of 1.95 meters, which she cleared on her first attempt. Gold here was taken by Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh (1.97), and bronze by Montenegrin Marija Vuković (1.95).
Last year Zhodzik won a similar silver award at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. There her result was 5 centimeters better than the current one, and she only lost to Australian Nicola Olyslagers, who showed the same result, based on the number of attempts.
