Another building has started to be erected on the former cemetery near St. Roch's Church in Minsk
Another building is being erected next to St. Roch's Church on Zalataya Horka in Minsk. This is visible in fresh photos that the publication Katolik.life noticed on a social network. This plot is a former Catholic cemetery. It was assigned to the Catholic parish, and the faithful created a square here.
After that, this territory was suddenly taken from the Catholics, and large-scale construction began here in 2025. When the building was almost completed, the construction of another object — also secret — began nearby.
There is no public information about it freely available. In official documentation, the construction is marked as "Erection of a multi-functional building at Zalataya Horka street, 5 and 5a, in Minsk. 2nd stage of construction." The first information about it appeared on public procurement services in August 2026.
The site for the new building in the square was cleared at the same time when the foundation pit was dug for the first building and the remains of those buried in the cemetery were exhumed.
When this became known, the faithful asked for the remains to be transferred to the community for reburial, and for a long time, the weekly parish announcements included a prayer request: "May the remains of our ancestors, buried in the Zalatohorsk cemetery, not be destroyed."
But to this day, parishioners have not been informed whether the remains were transferred – no information about reburial was provided to the faithful. And the prayer request has not been heard in parish announcements in recent months.
On the public cadastral map of Belarus, the territory where the construction is taking place is not marked in any way. There is only one plot allocated for the erection of a "multi-functional building", but its area is only 0.007 hectares.
According to unofficial data, the purpose of this object is an educational institution of the KGB, a new building for the Academy of National Security.
