"Agreed for my daughter's sake." Ex-Belarus national football team player participates in Russian show "Titans"

Timofey Kalachev spoke about the beginning of his television career.

Together with his daughter Yana, he participated in the project "Titans" on the Russian TV channel TNT, as reported by "Belarusian Football".

— To be honest, I was a bit surprised and at first just joked: "What 'Titans'? And what am I needed for there?" I finished my professional career a long time ago and didn't even consider participating in such projects.

According to Kalachev, his daughter Yana involved relatives and friends in convincing her father.

As a result, he agreed to participate in the project primarily for his daughter: "Perhaps, the main thing for me was not the participation itself, but the opportunity to support Yana and go through this experience with her. Even before the project, I constantly joked that I would participate in a maximum of one episode, and Yana would go further. This was a completely new experience for me, but the most important thing is that Yana and I were able to go through it together. I think this is what will remain the most valuable memory of this project for me."

Kalachev also noted that after finishing his career, he did not plan to return to sports competition in a similar format: "I finished professional sports a long time ago, I am 45 years old, and on the project there are young, very strong athletes who are in excellent physical shape. Therefore, I didn't understand what connection I had to such a show at all."

The show "Titans" started in the summer of 2024 on the Russian TV channel TNT. The fifth season is currently underway.

This project is an experiment in which artificial intelligence develops complex challenges for participants that test physical strength, endurance, and agility. The winner receives the title "Titan" and a cash prize of 10 million Russian rubles (currently about 120 thousand dollars). The show is an adaptation of the South Korean Physical: 100.

Famous Russian athletes participated in "Titans," such as hockey player Ilya Kovalchuk, football player Fyodor Kudryashov, boxer Alexander Povetkin, and gymnast Alexander Nemov.

Timofey Kalachev ended his football career in 2019. He played for Mogilev "Dnepr", Soligorsk "Shakhter", and Russian clubs "Krylia Sovetov", "Khimki", "Rostov". He played 76 matches for the Belarus national team.
