In Podmoskovye, one Belarusian killed another Belarusian. And then, out of resentment, stripped him naked.

And it all started when the victim vomited in a taxi, and the driver kicked both of them out.

Fist punch

The Korolev City Court of the Moscow region sentenced Belarusian Maksim Zmushko to seven years in a strict-regime penal colony. He beat his acquaintance, also a citizen of Belarus, to death.

It all started with a feast. Two men were drinking near the railway station, and after midnight, they called a taxi to return home. On the way, the acquaintance felt sick and started to vomit — the driver dropped both of them off in the middle of a residential area.

A quarrel broke out between them on the street. The acquaintance rudely insulted Zmushko, who then hit him on the head. To avoid attracting attention, the men moved to the garbage containers — there, Zmushko delivered no fewer than four punches with his fists to the victim's face and head. The victim fell, but Zmushko continued to hit him until he stopped resisting.

Then, as he himself told the investigation, he stripped the lying man naked — "because he felt resentment and wanted the other person to feel resentful too." And he walked towards the station.

But he didn't make it there. He stopped, asked a passerby for a phone, and called an ambulance: saying, a naked man is lying on the ground, he needs help. The paramedic who arrived at the call initially couldn't find the body — she had to call back the person who made the call. The man first said that he hadn't called, and then called back himself and clarified the location.

The victim was found alive, but unconscious and without documents. In the medical papers, he was recorded by a tattoo on his body — no one knew his name. He lived in the hospital for about two weeks and died in intensive care.

Zmushko was tried for intentional grievous bodily harm that, by negligence, led to death. He pleaded guilty and repented. A witness from a neighboring house recognized him: that night, he was awake, opened the window, and heard sounds similar to blows coming from the container area, and then saw a man walking away from there. There is also a recording from city cameras.

The court took into account that Zmushko had no previous convictions, that he has two minor children and an elderly mother dependent on him, that he himself called an ambulance, and that the conflict was provoked by the victim's own behavior.

The result — seven years of imprisonment.
